New Bats A Big Hit With Tigers.

Not that the Clemson baseball team was exactly struggling at the plate, but new bats have seemed to inject new life into the team’s offense.
The team received a shipment of new bats from Easton, a Van Nuys, Calif.,-based manufacturer, last week, and the early returns have been impressive.

Since swinging the yellow bats, Clemson has outscored five opponents 43-6, amassing 65 hits in the process.

“They’re better,” said Clemson outfielder Will Lamb. “The ball flies. The weight distribution is better. The end of my old bat was so much heavier than these bats. With the new bats there’s a lot more speed through the zone, which leads to better swings and harder balls hit.”

Lamb, who has a 24-game hitting streak – the longest by a Clemson player since 2008 – is 9-for-20 swinging the new bats and said his teammates have embraced them as well.

“No one’s using the old bat anymore, so it’s a plus for Easton,” Lamb said. “At first we were a little early through our swings, but now we’re locked and ready.”
Lamb certainly hopes so as the Tigers look to continue their strong late-season run with a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference series this weekend at Virginia Tech. The Tigers have won six in a row and 20 of their last 23 games to improve to 34-15
