Some of the choice pics from the day.
.
Don’t call them Yellow Bellies. These LSU fans react to one of the three home run balls that landed in their section during the Tigers win over Arkansas.
.
The venerable Ryan McGee signs his “Road To Omaha” book for me, while everyone’s hero, Jeremy Mills, the guru behind the oft-used d1baseball.com site, works diligently behind him.
.
Virginia starting pitcher Robert Morey likes to put his glove on top of his head after he finishes his warm-up pitches.
.
Once again, the lesson here being never slide into first base, give yourself a chance to be called safe by running through the bag.
.
It was this kind of day for Fullerton. Actually, it was this kind of three days for the Titans as they uncharacteristically phase out in two games here in Omaha.
.
Senior Jared Clark finds a coachable moment with Khris Davis vs. UVa.
.
ESPN’s Kyle Peterson checks a replay on his monitor before going on air. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I like Kyle’s dugout reports and all, but this guy should be in the booth doing the color commentary. None of the other analysts keep up with college baseball all season long like Peterson does. Plus he’s really good at breaking down a game without constantly referencing the pro baseball viewpoint.
.
This ballgirl made some nice catches off the foul ball netting. Even home plate umpire Joe Burleson gave her a hand after her running one-hander she made early in the game.
.
LSU’s bats looked strong vs. Arkansas. Hell, even the LSU batgirl looked strong against Arkansas now that I think of it.
.
Sean Ochinko makes a great defensive play by lunging toward first base with his naked hand to get Zack Cox out here.
.
Look, I understand the sentiment here and I dig it and all, but people really need to quit ripping off the old Master Card mantra of three things costing money and the last thing being priceless. To begin with it’s too long of a read for when you actually see it on TV for 2 seconds. Oh, and everybody quit ripping off the “Got Milk” ad campaign too.
.
Arkansas second baseman Bo Bigham can’t quite handle this hot potato.
.
Paul Mainieri and LSU look relaxed and in their element here in Omaha. And because of that the Tigers are hot and a title run is imminent.

Completely agree about Kyle Peterson.

Great set of pics. Gotta love LSU if for nothing else but for their Tiger girls. Go Tigers.
Very insightful pics there. So kyle has a stashed monitor, interesting. No wonder he rushed in when that player fell over the guard rail… he wanted to get the player the hell out of his office.
I completely agree with you re Kyle needing to be in the booth. He blows the others away with college baseball analysis. And love the pic of the Titan sliding into first, miles away from the base. I’m not sure what’s more effective, that or running dragging an anchor. Regardless, the drag coefficient must be pretty high either way. That has got to be the best evidence coaches could show their players re running thru 1st base.
Hey Stitch, your captions were succinctly … priceless!

Who has ever gone to the CWS and only spent $50 on souvenirs? But all of that “stuff” you buy is definitely – priceless!
