Having been raised in Omaha and spending many summer nights scampering through Rosenblatt Stadium long before the ESPN cameras ever showed up . . .
Hey StitchHeads out there.
So, because of all the NCAA basketball and hockey tournament crap that’s going on, my poor little college baseball weekend wrap-up and Power Ranking got pushed way back til late, late afternoon East coast time. But here’s the link to it anyway. Hope you dig it. Or at least want to [...]
“Me. My fans. We both love the same person.”
- Johnny Rotten, Sex Pistols.
I love my work for ESPN. But even more, I love the people that love my work on ESPN. Hell, I love the people that hate my work on ESPN. Shows they’re reading and they have a passion for it.
Okay, I’m being a wee-bit facetious. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but the people who comment on my weekend previews and reviews on the Mother Ship don’t have a lot of reciprocal love for me. In fact, I’d say they have more of a “hate-hate” relationship with me. And in case you’re wondering, I love it. I do.
The latest wrap-up and the always unforgiving, I-don’t-care-if-you-beat-a-tin-can-team-by-20-runs Power Rankings have been posted on the Mother Ship. Go ahead and click on this highlighted bit of copy and you’ll go straight to it.
And I also like this cover photo the boys in Bristol put up with the column…
Remember Dallas Baptist? Do ya’? Well, reacquaint yourself soon. No, I ain’t joshing’ ya’. Those same Patriot boys who made it all the way to the Super Regionals in 2011 may be back in 2012. Tonight’s scintillating come-from-behind 7-6 win over Oklahoma was a total white-knuckler and showed all sorts of guts for this unassuming school on the outskirts of Dallas, Texas. In fact, this is the kind of game that could catapult the season to… oh, I don’t know, the Super Regionals and beyond? Just sayin’.
Just got off a plane in Dallas and noticed that my stuff I sent off to the Mother Ship has been posted. So if you wanna have a look-see,
click on this link for the ESPN.com weekend wrap-up with the (no-bullshit) Power Rankings.
I can’t wait to read all the bitchin’ and cryin’ that is part-and-parcel of this process. Should be fun.
Little late on posting this, but my latest ESPN.com college baseball entry has been posted on the Mother Ship. In other words, click here for the Tuesday wrap-up of the weekend action.
Hope you dig it. Although I’m sure a lot of you will hate it. Either way, just read.
Okay, it’s now Tuesday. Perfect time to go and look back at the weekend action and to let loose the last ranking to be released of the week. Right? Well here’s some notes and stuff about the weekend in college baseball along with the power rankings they have me put together.
A couple of notes about this whole ESPN thing I’ve been meaning to tell you guys.
Kissing your sister.
Unless your sister is actually a step-sister who happens to be a Swedish model, kissing your sister sucks. Well, even then, maybe it’s a little bit creepy. Either way, that’s what they say a tie in sports is like – kissing your sister.
Well UC Davis and San Jose State puckered up today to play 11-and-a-half innings of a contest that was eventually called a “suspension” because of darkness. Even though, to be honest, I’ve seen Loyola Marymount play much further into dusk than this, but I digress.
As I tweeted earlier, the game was originally supposed to be a 6pm start time and played across the street at Municipal Stadium, where the Single-A San Jose Giants play their games (at least I *think* it’s Single-A, but don’t quote me on that ‘coz I don’t know squat about pro baseball). But the game was changed to a 2pm start time and switched to Blethen Field, which is essentially a high school-type field with no lights. Therein lies the problem.
Okay guys and dolls, here’s some weekend wrap-up type stuff that ESPN posted for me. Sorry for the delay in getting it to you here, I’m a little road-weary I s’pose. So feel free to click here and get some readin’ in.
Just an FYI, this was the first week for us to do the post-weekend wrap type stuff (in fact, first time for ESPN.com to have anything like this on the site for college baseball, I’m stoked about that), so I’m sure it’ll get posted earlier in future weeks. Lemme know what you think… but don’t be a putz about it.

Sorry Neil. You are one of the greatest songwriters in rock and roll history, but there IS one song I wish you would NOT have written.
